Slight chance for severe thunderstorms Monday, highest risk north of U.S. Highway 24

The U.S. National Weather Service has placed northeast Kansas, including Douglas County, under a slight risk for severe weather Monday, June 13, 2011.

Thunderstorms will likely develop late Monday afternoon and evening across northeast Kansas, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.

Douglas County is under a slight risk for severe weather, though the highest risk for storms is north of U.S. Highway 24.

If storms develop, the primary threats would be golf ball-sized hail and damaging winds.
