• The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce’s AgriBusiness Farm Tour & Mixer will be June 24 at Bismarck Gardens Lake House, 1736 E. 1550 Road. • Farmers and ranchers are invited to participate in the second-annual Eastern Kansas Grazing School on Sept. 7-8 at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Holton. The two-day event will feature hands-on field exercises, and two farm tours will be included. The event will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. Registration is $50 and is due by Aug. 15. • Tonganoxie-based Honey Creek Disposal Co. has signed a deal to purchase the former Lacy Steel Co. at the junction of Kansas Highway 32 and U.S. Highway 24-40. The 13-acre site, just east of Lawrence Municipal Airport, will be used as a recycling center for the curbside recycling operation that Honey Creek offers in smaller towns in the area. It will also will be used as the company’s maintenance facility. Currently, the company drives all of its recycling into the 12th and Haskell Recycling Center in east Lawrence.

• Waddell & Reed announces that Jeremy Schuyler has joined the firm as a financial adviser in the Douglas County area. Before joining Waddell & Reed, Schuyler was a home restoration technician, with Free State Properties, where he had worked for two years.

• Cottonwood Inc., a Lawrence-based organization that assists people with developmental disabilities, recently received a $10,000 donation, courtesy of Crown Toyota and Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. The donations are made possible through Toyota’s Dealer Match Program, a new tool designed to support dealer community involvement by matching their contributions to selected charities. Crown Toyota, 3430 Iowa, nominated Cottonwood for a $5,000 award, which was approved and matched by Toyota.

• Megan Roelofs, occupational therapist, has joined Lawrence Therapy Services. Roelofs is a member of both the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Kansas Occupational Therapy Association.

• In May, the city of Lawrence community development staff attended the Kansas Chapter of the National Association of Housing Rehabilitation Officials conference in Salina. Annually, Kansas NAHRO awards The Nadine Burch Member of the Year award at the spring conference. The 2011 recipient of award is Tony Hoch, projects specialist for the city of Lawrence community development division. Hoch also serves as Kansas NAHRO vice president of community revitalization and development. He has been with the city since 2003 and has belonged to Kansas NAHRO since that time.
