Fundraiser for family of Eudora girl hurt in April accident set for June 20

Owners of Royal Crest Lanes and Wayne and Larry’s Sports Bar and Grill in Lawrence plan to raise funds to help pay the medical bills for a 2-year-old Eudora girl who was injured in a deadly April 16 crash on Kansas Highway 10.

Owners of the bar and grill and bowling alley, 933 Iowa, will have a fundraiser June 20 for the family of Courtlynn Shutt, whose 5-year-old brother Cainan was killed in the crash.

Staff members are close friends with Courtlynn’s parents, Tommy and Ali Shutt. On June 20, proceeds from a $10 two-game bowling special and $5 shoe rental fee will go to the family. Also 50 percent of food sales at Wayne and Larry’s, excluding a wing special, will be donated to the Shutt family.

The Shutts have advocated that the Kansas Department of Transportation install a cable barrier along the highway median between Lawrence and Interstate 435. A petition for the cable barrier is expected to be at the event.

KDOT recently reopened a study of installing a cable barrier in the median.
