Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence to celebrate Juneteenth at Broken Arrow Park

Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence will celebrate national history June 17 with the observation of Juneteenth.

The event commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and will be recognized by the club with oral histories, games and activities as well as a street dance. Taking place at Broken Arrow Park, 29th and Louisiana streets, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., the evening will showcase what club members have learned about the day.

The event is free and open to the public. Food will be sold during the celebration and music will be provided by a DJ. Several community organizations will also have information booths at the event.
