25 years ago: Hall-Kimbrell holds ribbon-cutting, open house

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for June 2, 1986:

  • A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house welcomed visitors to the new Hall-Kimbrell Environmental Services office at 15th and Wakarusa. The 10,500-square-foot, $900,000 building was the first tenant of the University Corporate and Research Park. Hall-Kimbrell, an environmental engineering firm that specialized in aiding companies in removing asbestos from buildings, had moved to its new location from an outgrown office at 946 Tennessee.
  • The official rainfall total for May 1986 was 6.35 inches, falling just short of the 1974 record of 6.44 inches. However, as a dry spell had begun in mid-May, local residents were once again on the point of wishing for rain.
