KU soccer camps: The Kansas University Soccer girls residential and girls team camp has two sessions. Session I is from July 15-18, all day (grades 4-12). Lawrence swim team and lessons: Ad Astra Area Aquatics is a competitive year-round swim team that offers practices for ages 6-18 throughout the week. AAAA is always accepting new members. For information, visit adastraareaaquatics.org or call Patrick at 331-6940.

Swim academy: Registration is open for the Aquahawk Swim Academy swim-lesson program. The Aquahawk Swim Academy is designed to introduce new and beginner swimmers to the water, teach basic water safety and swimming skills to swim for fun or competitively. LHS fall sports: The deadline for turning in required forms for participation in fall 2011 sports at Lawrence High is 3:30 p.m. Aug. 11 to the LHS athletic office. The first day of fall sports is Aug. 15. Forms may be picked up at Lawrence High or downloaded at www.lhs.usd497.org.

Softball batting cage available: A 70-foot outdoor batting cage that is sent up for softball is available for team use. If interested, please contact Barry Johnson at 218-9155 or email phenixfastpitch@yahoo.com.

LAGA City tournament registration: The Lawrence Amateur Golf Association City Tournament is scheduled for July 23 at Eagle Bend and July 24 at Lawrence Country Club. Registration forms are available at the local golf course pro shops and at Golf USA. Cost is $125. Field is limited to first 100 players to register. Four divisions: men, women, seniors (50 and over) and super seniors (60 and over). Each tournament will have championship flights and flights for higher-handicap players.

KU baseball camp: The KU Baseball All-Star Camp for ages 13-18 will be held July 28-31 Hoglund Ballpark at KU. It includes daily instructional sessions, scrimmage games, team concept and much more. Free State softball camp: The Free State softball and 5 Tool Softball School will host camp for grades 4-8 on Sundays beginning Aug. 21 at Free State High. Positions camps as well as a pitcher-catcher camps are available. For information contact FSHS coach Lee Ice at ice@sunflower.com

Volleyball camp for kids: A girls volleyball camp for girls going into fourth and fifth grade will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. Aug. 1-4 in the Corpus Christi gym. Phenix coaches sought: Lawrence Phenix will be holding tryouts at the end of July and hope to ad first-year 10U, 14U and 16U teams to the organization. The primary focus of coaches for these age group would be player development. Prior coaching experience is a plus but will consider new coaches who have a strong desire to teach. Coaches will have the full support of the Phenix organization/fund raising and all coaches within the organization. Next Level youth 7-on-7 tournament: Next Level will host its first 7-on-7 youth tournament from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Aug. 6. Participants must be going into grades 4-8, and team as well as individual registrations will be accepted. Deadline is Aug. 1. Soccer clinic: A local soccer clinic with ties to Sporting Kansas City will be held this month at Free State High. The camp for girls will run from 7-8:30 p.m. on July 18, 20 and 22. Sporting KC and Free State players will be on hand. The event is for middle-shoolers going into sixth, seventh or eighth grades and is free to the first 40 boys and 40 girls who register by sending an email to hpsporting22@gmail.com, including players name, sex, school and grade.

Hawk Hundred trail run: The Lawrence Trail Hawks are hosting Lawrence’s first-100-mile foot race on the North Shore Trails at Clinton Lake on Sept. 10-11.

The Hawk Hundred features four, 23-mile loops on Clinton Lake’s rocky, root-bound North Shore trail system, with an eight-mile out-and-back at the end. Runners will have 32 hours to complete the course, starting at 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10.

The race will be run old school with extremely limited support for runners. Water will be provided on the course, along with notebooks where runners sign in to keep track of how many laps they’ve completed.

Because of the limited support and because of the many unknowns this first race presents, entrance is only open to runners who have completed a 100-mile or longer race in the allotted time since 2009.

Tennis league: Registration is open for the 2011 summer/fall World Team Tennis league. Football Camp: The Lawrence Lightning football camp will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 23 at Broken Arrow Park. All boys and girls grades 2-6 are welcome. Cost is $20 per child. Lions win tournament: The Lawrence Lions girls basketball won the Lawrence MAYB tournament this past weekend. The team played in the ninth and 10th grade division A.

Members of the team are Bri Anderson, Brittany Kampfer, Emma Kelly, Nicole Kelly, Kylie Seaman, Makayla Bell, Alex Hilliard and Kali Holder.

FSHS softball clinic: Free State softball and the 5 Tool Softball School will hold a free softball clinic for girls going into high school in the fall (grades 9 thru 12). Crush tryouts: Kansas Crush will be hold tryouts for the upcoming 11U 2012 baseball season. Winter workouts are required, and players must be willing to travel.
