25 years ago: New city budget for 1987 under discussion

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for July 14, 1986:

Lawrence city commissioners were looking at the proposed 1987 city budget submitted by City Manager Buford Watson. Commissioners had agreed to use leftover federal revenue-sharing funds, if available, to pay for requests by the Lawrence Arts Center, Watkins Museum, Lawrence Arts Commission and Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging. If revenue-sharing funds were not available, the projects would be funded with general revenues. The new requests included $4,300 for the Lawrence Arts Commission to help pay for a year-long downtown sculpture exhibit.
