Lawrence man taken to hospital after driving into semi-truck near 23rd and Iowa streets

A Lawrence man was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries after driving his vehicle into a semi-truck in the 2300 block of Iowa Street around 5 a.m. Monday.

According to Lawrence police Sgt. Damon Thomas, the man was traveling southbound on Iowa Street and was trying to turn into a gas station when he drove into the front wheel of a semi that was traveling northbound. The man was treated and released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Thomas said that while blood tests have yet to come back, alcohol was believed to be a factor.
