25 years ago: LMH employee found not guilty of molesting patient

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for July 3, 1986:

A former orderly at Lawrence Memorial Hospital was found not guilty of sexually molesting a female patient in the emergency room ten months earlier. In announcing her verdict, Associate District Judge Jean Shepherd said that the prosecution had failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused man was guilty. The alleged victim, a 29-year-old doctoral student at Kansas University, had told the court that she had been “fondled and grabbed” during an examination on August 21, 1985, by the LMH employee.
