Kansas coach Bill Self said there’s a chance Travis Releford, who has missed the past five games (severe ankle sprain) could return Saturday. Self said Releford, who is “not 100 percent, could have played against Colorado (Tuesday). At shootaround he was moving about three-fourths speed. I don’t want to tell him, ‘Go out and guard Jacob (Pullen),’ if he can’t move. He’s trying real hard.”

Daniels update: DeAndre Daniels, a 6-foot-8 senior forward from IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla., appears to be another step closer to becoming a Jayhawk officially.

ESPN’s Paul Biancardi tweeted Friday that Daniels and his dad will be at today’s game. Most recruiting experts believe Daniels will ultimately chose KU over Texas and Kentucky and perhaps attend classes here and practice with the team the rest of this semester. Daniels’ good friend, Christian Garrett, was added as a KU walk-on player earlier this week.

Prep juniors in the stands today: Perry Ellis, 6-8, Wichita Heights; Kaleb Tarczewski, 7-foot, St. Mark’s High, Southborough, Mass.; Nino Jackson, 6-0, Ardmore (Okla.) High; Zach Peters, 6-9, Prestonwood Academy, Plano, Texas (orally committed to KU). Also Ishmail Wainright, 6-5 sophomore, Raytown (Mo.) South.

Guardianship: Taylor said he’s heard several individuals, including his mom, say they’d love to become guardian for Thomas Robinson’s sister, Jayla.

“It’s more than just my mom saying it. My mom is not the only one who said it. There’s a million people that said it, other mothers,” Taylor said.

“I feel everybody I talk to is telling me that. But there’s a lot more to it than people just saying it.”

Robinson’s sister currently is residing with her father in D.C.
