Topeka ? Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback has kept a campaign promise to establish an Office of the Repealer to target state laws and regulations for elimination.

Brownback signed an executive order Friday to create the office and spell out its duties. He announced last month that it would be led by Secretary of Administration Dennis Taylor.

The office will take suggestions for which laws and regulations should be repealed, make recommendations of its own and track the results.

Brownback told reporters during a Statehouse news conference that his goal is to eliminate outdated and overly burdensome laws and regulations to help the economy grow.

The order does not need legislative approval, but Brownback said he thinks it will have broad support among lawmakers.
