Lawrence police make new website public

The Lawrence Police Department on Thursday made public its new website, which includes a map of crimes reported in the city in 2010.

The site is at www.lawrenceks.org/police.

“The website was launched as part of a broader department effort to increase community policing relations, as well as to improve information sharing and communication with citizens and others in need of police services in Lawrence,” said Matt Sarna, the department’s public affairs sergeant. “It’s also important for us to share information about who we are and some of the initiatives and activities we engage in within the local community.”

The site also includes information about the department plus announcements about stolen vehicles and people who have two or more outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court.
