Lawrence man arrested on theft, forgery charges following lengthy investigation

Lawrence Police arrested a 40-year-old Lawrence man Friday on charges of theft greater than $25,000, criminal use of a financial card, forgery, and burglary of a vehicle.

Sgt. Ted J. Bordman said the arrest — which occurred in the 1000 block of W. 23rd St. — followed a “rather lengthy investigation” by police. Bordman said he was unable to provide more details on the case as the investigation is ongoing.

The man was booked into the Douglas County Jail around 9 p.m., and his bond was set at $49,500.

The same man was also arrested on charges of automobile theft on Dec. 30, 2010, following a police chase near Holcom Park. In that case, the man was released on a $1,500 bond the same day, according to the Douglas County Jail booking log.
