Heritage edges Veritas girls

The Topeka Heritage Christian girls basketball team held off Veritas, 43-41, on Friday night.

After Heritage took the lead with eight seconds to go, the Eagles’ last-second shot went in the basket just after the buzzer.

“We’re just going to keep fighting and learn how to win some of these close ones,” Veritas coach Kevin Shelton said.

Kayli Farley led Veritas (3-5)with nine points. Madison Bennett, Ellen Phillips and Kristen Finger each added eight.
