Area winter weather advisory expires
2 p.m. update
The winter weather advisory that was in effect for Douglas and surrounding counties has expired, according to the National Weather Service.
However, the area remains under a hazardous weather outlook, as drizzle and patches of fog are forecasted for this evening, with a low around 32 degrees.
Noon update
The National Weather Service is extending the winter weather advisory for Douglas and surrounding counties until 2 p.m.
8:36 a.m. update
The National Weather Service has extended the winter weather advisory until noon Saturday.
Areas of freezing drizzle will continue “across all locations along the Interstate 70 corridor through the late morning” before gradually diminishing in the early afternoon.
According to the NWS, black ice on roadways is possible and numerous traffic accidents have been reported with “additional accidents likely.”
7:36 a.m. update
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Douglas and surrounding counties until 9 a.m. Saturday.
Freezing drizzle is forecasted until 8 a.m., and a “light glaze of ice is expected on exposed surfaces and overpasses,” according to the advisory.
Travelers can expect difficult road conditions, including slippery roads and limited visibility.
