From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Feb. 21, 1971:

• The Kansas University Student Senate had recently adopted a resolution calling for a boycott of three Lawrence businesses: the Draught House at 804 W. 24th, The Carriage Lamp, 711 W. 23rd, and the Southern Pit, 1834 Mass. The businesses had been requiring presentation of four-year college ID cards for service. Members of the KU Student Senate believed that this policy was designed to keep Haskell students out of the establishments, as they were attending a two-year college.
• On the same day that Coffeyville, KS, reached a high of 68 degrees and several tornadoes were reported at Sublette, Kalvesta and Ulysses, near-blizzard conditions were reported in western Kansas, as snow was accompanied by wind gusting to over 50 miles per hour. Interstate 70 had been closed from Oakley to the state line for a time due to hazardous conditions.
