Jayhawks in the NBA: Thunder recall Aldrich from D-League

Thunder recall Aldrich from D-League

Oklahoma City — The Oklahoma City Thunder have recalled rookie center Cole Aldrich from the NBA development league.

Aldrich was averaging 10.2 points and 8.4 rebounds in 19 starts for the Tulsa 66ers before being called up prior to Oklahoma City’s game Wednesday night against New Orleans.

Bucks’ forward Gooden out 4-6 weeks

Milwaukee — Bucks forward Drew Gooden will be sidelined four to six weeks because of lingering problems with plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

General manager John Hammond says Gooden would undergo treatment on Wednesday in Los Angeles. The injury has already cost Gooden 21 games this season, including the past six.

Gooden signed a $32 million, five-year contract in the offseason. He’s averaging 10.8 points and 6.5 rebounds in 25 games this season.

Gooden used padding in his shoe to try to alleviate the pain but was often limping in pregame.

“It’s just part of our season so far,” coach Scott Skiles said. “You don’t ever want anybody to be out, but at least we know now how long he’s going to be out.”

Skiles spoke before the Bucks played at Phoenix on Wednesday night. In addition to Drew’s absence, Milwaukee also was without center Andrew Bogut because of a bruised right knee. Bogut was relieved that the injury was not more serious. He was hurt in the fourth quarter of Milwaukee’s loss to the Clippers in Los Angeles.

Kings forward Jackson cleared for practice

Sacramento, Calif. — Sacramento Kings reserve forward Darnell Jackson has been diagnosed with costochondritis (inflammation of the rib cartilage), according to a release from the team.

He underwent a battery of tests Wednesday at the UC Davis Medical Center. But he has been cleared for full participation.

In the Kings’ loss to the Celtics on Tuesday night, Jackson took a few minutes to leave the court after the first half and did not return. After the game, the team said Jackson had shortness of breath and kept him out for precautionary reasons, according to The Associated Press.
