Mulvane ? The operator of the new state-owned casino in south-central Kansas says it’s donating a total of $147,000 to seven charities.

The money represents the Kansas Star’s share of gambling revenues from a Dec. 16 exercise by state regulators to test internal controls at the casino in Mulvane, about 20 miles south of Wichita.

About 3,000 guests participated in the exercise. The casino opens to the general public Tuesday.

Each of the charities is receiving about $21,000.

The recipients are the Kansas Food Bank Warehouse; Music Theater of Wichita; a foundation for Mulvane’s public schools; a memorial for veterans of conflicts since 1991; a new scholarship program for women seeking GEDs; a Wellington group serving the developmentally disabled; and an area network of breast cancer survivors and activists.
