Tonight marks the first of three straight days of hoops for Lawrence High’s boys basketball team.

The Lions (1-0) are scheduled to open the first round of the Blue Valley Shootout, in Stilwell, at 8:30 p.m. against Sumner Academy (Kansas City, Kan.).

An LHS victory would advance the Lions to a Friday night semifinal against either Blue Valley or Ralston (Neb.).

Other first-round games at the tournament are Lee’s Summit, Mo., versus Olathe North, and Olathe Northwest versus Oak Park (Kansas City, Mo.).

The Lions finished fifth at the Blue Valley Shootout last season.
