Baldwin City man injured in one-vehicle accident in Douglas County

A 25-year-old Baldwin City man was injured Friday night in a one-vehicle accident on a Douglas County gravel road, said Sgt. Steve Lewis, a Douglas County Sheriff’s spokesman.

Lewis said Jeffrey Hill was a passenger in a 2005 Dodge pickup truck that Ryan Niehoff, 25, also of Baldwin City, was driving at 11 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of East 1700 Road near Vinland. Niehoff lost control of the truck, which skidded into the north ditch and struck an embankment, Lewis said.

Hill was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center with injuries not believed to be life threatening. Niehoff and another passenger were not injured. Lewis said officers believed alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash, and Niehoff was cited for speeding and refusal to take a preliminary breath test.
