Kansas University junior power forward Thomas Robinson, who hit 11 of 13 free throws Wednesday against Florida Atlantic, has made 71.4 percent of his attempts this season.

That’s noticeably better than free-throw marks of 39.5 percent and 51.0 percent his first two seasons at KU.

“Well, I changed what I do,” said Robinson, whose form appears to be more fluid through six games, “but, I mean, coach (Bill Self) made it a must that nobody help me this summer. It was just a confidence thing. He always says, ‘Be a man and knock down the free throws.’

“Quite frankly, I didn’t do anything this summer I didn’t do over the past two summers as far as free throws. It’s being on the floor more and being more comfortable and the fact if I miss a free throw now, it matters. The past few years it didn’t quite matter if I missed a free throw or not.”

Robinson — he made 6-of-10 versus Georgetown, 1-of-1 against UCLA and 4-of-6 against Duke last week in Hawaii — seems determined to possess the right mindset at the line his junior season.

“I shot the ball great in the offseason last year and got in the game, and unfortunately it didn’t transfer over,” Robinson said. “It’s all mental. If you have big enough heart you’ll step up to the line and knock the free throws down.”

Decision day: Andrew White, a 6-6, 210-pound small forward from Miller School in Charlottesville, Va., says he will announce his college choice at 4 p.m., Central time, today.

White, who averaged 19.2 points and 7.0 rebounds a game last season, has made official visits to KU, West Virginia, Louisville and Texas. He’s made unofficial visits to Richmond and North Carolina State and also is considering Virginia Tech.

Competing for the Under Armour-sponsored “Team Loaded” with N.C. State commit Tyler Lewis, White exploded for 27 points versus the New Jersey Playaz at the Pitt Jam Fest last AAU season. He averaged 19.8 points a game at the Memorial Day Weekend Tournament of Champions.

“White showed off an excellent mid-range game (at Pitt Jam) as well as the ability to knock down the three pointer. He also did an excellent job of putting the ball on the floor and attacking the basket,” wrote terpsinsider.com.

Rivals.com’s Jerry Meyer reported on Twitter on Thursday: “Good source telling me prob(ably) Kansas for White.”

Rivals.com’s No. 56-rated player started his high school career at Thomas Dale High in Chester, Va., moving over to the Miller School for his junior campaign.

Package deal?: Isaiah Lewis, a 6-3 junior point guard from Christ the King High in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Brannen Greene, a 6-7 junior forward from Mary Persons High in Forsyth, Ga., are friends who are both considering KU. Greene is ranked No. 35 and Lewis No. 52 in the Class of 2013.

“He really likes Kansas as well as I do. We could end up at Kansas if that’s possible,” Lewis told Zagsblog.com.

Lewis said KU, Memphis and Louisville were recruiting the duo the hardest with Florida, Florida State and St. John’s on the lists of both players.

“We really like each other’s game. We think we can do well in the backcourt together,” Lewis said.

KU is also recruiting No. 34-rated Tyler Ennis, 6-2 junior point guard from St. Benedict’s High in Newark, N.J. Ennis is originally from Canada.

“He’s more of point guard so I’m more like a point guard so I really think I don’t want to go to the same school as him,” Lewis told Zagsblog.com. “But if a school can make it work starting two guards, maybe something like that could work out but I don’t see me and him going in the same direction as me and Brannen Greene.”

Reunion: KU’s 1965-66 team will celebrate the 45th anniversary of its Big Eight championship season this weekend and be recognized during Saturday’s KU-South Florida game, set for a 4:15 p.m. tip in Allen Fieldhouse.

Coach Ted Owens’ Jayhawks went 23-4 overall and 13-1 in the league. KU fell to Texas Western, 81-80, in double overtime in the NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional finals.

Two members of the squad — Walt Wesley (20.7 ppg, 8.8 rpg) and Jo Jo White (11.3 ppg) — have had their jersey numbers retired. Al Lopes, Delvy Lewis and Ron Franz averaged 12.4, 10.9 and 9.6 ppg respectively.
