KU students suspected of burglarizing vehicle on Daisy Hill

About 2 a.m. Friday, Kansas University Public Safety officers arrested two male KU students on suspicion of burglarizing a vehicle near Ellsworth Hall, 1734 Engel Road. KU Public Safety spokesman Capt. Schuyler Bailey said the department had increased monitoring of the area after three recent auto burglaries. Bailey said employees who monitor security cameras noticed suspicious activity in the parking lot. Police found two 18-year-old men inside a car that did not belong to them, he said. They were arrested on multiple counts of vehicle burglary and theft, and then released later Friday, according to Douglas County Jail records. Cheryl Wright, a spokeswoman for the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office, said prosecutors were waiting on police reports before making a decision about filing formal charges. The Journal-World generally does not identify suspects unless they are formally charged.
