Lawrence homeless shelter director Loring Henderson to receive award
The director of the Lawrence Community Shelter is receiving an award from a group of Lawrence church congregations for his service to the homeless.
Loring Henderson will receive the “Service Above Self” award from the four Lawrence congregations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Henderson will receive the award at the church’s award ceremony at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at the church, 3655 W. 10th Street.
In addition to the award, the church will make a $1,000 donation of meat and groceries to the homeless shelter.
