Lawrence man arrested for threatening his property owners with pipe

Lawrence police arrested a 31-year-old Lawrence man Wednesday afternoon after he threatened his property owners with a pipe.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Trent McKinley, police were notified of the incident shortly before 4 p.m. The man had was engaged in a dispute over his rental property at Midwest Property Management in the 1200 block of Iowa Street. McKinley said the man had brought a pipe and was swinging it at people in a threatening way and behaving in a generally inappropriate manner. The suspect had left by the time employees called the police, but officers were able to catch up with the suspect at his residence in the 3000 block of University Drive.

The suspect was arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail on charges of aggravated assault.

No one was injured and no property damage was reported as a result of the incident.
