Doctors take top spots on ranking of highest paid professions in Kansas

? A new report from the state Labor Department finds that orthodontists were the top average hourly wage earners in Kansas last year, with doctors accounting for seven of the nine top slots.

The 2011 edition of the Kansas Wage Survey report is based on several measurements and contains data collected from November 2007 through 2010.

The report shows Kansas orthodontists earned an hourly average of $117.36 in 2010.

The average wage for all of Kansas in May 2010 was $18.89, up by 37 cents from 2009. The statewide average is higher than those in Nebraska and Oklahoma, but lower than Colorado and Missouri.

The survey looks at the wages of full and part-time, nonfarm workers, not counting self-employed workers, owners and partners in unincorporated firms.
