Greensburg, Pa. ? Terrelle Pryor worked out for 17 NFL teams Saturday and said afterward he wouldn’t appeal his five-week suspension at the start of the NFL season.

With the former Ohio State quarterback trying to prove he should be taken in Monday’s supplemental draft, spectators included Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and director of football operations Kevin Colbert and Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay.

“Whatever team I have an opportunity to play for, I will sign a contract,” Pryor said following a hastily arranged pro day at a high school stadium near his hometown of Jeannette, Pa. “I will not forego it and enter into next year’s draft.”

Miles slams players’ behavior

Baton Rouge, La. — LSU coach Les Miles says players have “been involved in behavior that’s unacceptable to me” after starting quarterback Jordan Jefferson and several unidentified teammates were implicated in a fight at a local bar early Friday morning.

Miles addressed the media about the incident for the first time Saturday. A group of 22 players who make up the fourth-ranked Tigers’ Unity Council accompanied Miles for a terse 61/2 minute session that included an apology from senior offensive lineman Josh Dworaczyk.

“I can tell you that the last couple of days have been miserable for us, that we’ve been involved in behavior that’s unacceptable to me, certainly unacceptable to our team — guys that broke team rules and violated curfew,” Miles said. “I can tell you and assure you that this will not happen again. I can tell you that there’s a remorseful team here.

“I personally want to apologize for the actions of my team.”

Simpson leads at Wyndham

Greensboro, N.C. — Even during a rough start, Webb Simpson never lost his cool. He was rewarded with one of the hottest stretches of his young career.

It put the local favorite in position for his first PGA Tour win.

Simpson shot a 6-under 64 on Saturday to move to 15-under 195 and take a two-stroke lead after three rounds at the Wyndham Championship.

The 26-year-old Raleigh native and former Wake Forest player had four birdies and an eagle during his late charge at the final event before the playoffs start next week.

“You’ve got to really stay patient around this golf course, because bogeys are pretty quick to happen out here with the rough and the undulating greens,” Simpson said. “I told myself to be patient and let the birdies come. It took them a while to get there, but (he) finally made a few coming in.”

No Peyton in preseason

Indianapolis — Peyton Manning still thinks he can be ready for the Indianapolis Colts’ regular-season opener.

The rest of the preseason appears to be out.

Manning said Saturday he will use the next two weeks to get healthy from offseason neck surgery, a timeline that could put his streak of 227 consecutive starts in jeopardy.

“I certainly want to be out there, and it’s hard to keep track of the hours I’ve spent in rehab,” he said. “I was short-changed a little bit by the lockout and I’m going to need every bit of the next two weeks, and then I can give you more of an update with where I am.”

A-Rod might return today

Minneapolis — Alex Rodriguez is almost there.

The New York Yankees weren’t ready to take their star third baseman off the disabled list for Saturday night’s game at Minnesota, but manager Joe Girardi said he plans to play Rodriguez today against the Twins if the three-time AL MVP feels all right in the morning.

Rodriguez went through another pregame workout on Saturday afternoon. He hasn’t played for the Yankees since July 7, due to a torn meniscus in his right knee that required surgery.

Ambrose wins Nationwide

Montreal — Circuit Gilles Villeneuve owed Marcos Ambrose a victory and finally paid up.

The Australian had led more laps than any other driver in the first four editions of Montreal’s NASCAR Nationwide event and he finally cashed in Saturday, taking the lead on a restart with nine laps to go and holding off crowd favorite Alex Tagliani to take the checkered flag in the NAPA Auto Parts 200.

Ambrose had started at the back because he missed the pre-race drivers meeting for the NASCAR Nationwide event. Then he survived a collision with 1997 Formula One champion Jacques Villeneuve halfway through the race that knocked him back to 28th place.

Kardashian, Humphries wed

Santa Barbara, Calif. — Kris Humphries has officially caught up with Kim Kardashian. The basketball pro and the reality star are husband and wife.

Kardashian, 30, and Humphries, 26, tied the knot Saturday night in the exclusive Montecito area near Santa Barbara, Calif., Kardashian publicist Jill Fritzo told People magazine and E!

The ceremony will be televised as a two-part special on E! in October.

It is the first marriage for Humphries, who last played for the NBA’s New Jersey Nets, and the second for Kardashian, star of E!’s “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
