From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Aug. 11, 1971:
A bicyclist and a motorcyclist had been injured in separate accidents recently. The bicyclist, a 19-year-old Lawrence resident, had ridden her bike into a tractor at 4:20 p.m. at 12th and Indiana, according to the police report. She told officers that she had been riding downhill and was unable to stop before hitting the city-owned tractor, which had been loading logs into a truck. She suffered cuts and bruises in the accident. A city employee told police that he had been flagging traffic for the stationary tractor, but that the cyclist had ridden past his flag without stopping. In a separate incident, a 23-year-old Lawrence woman had been treated for cuts and bruises and an ankle injury after her motorcycle and a car had collided at 7 a.m. at 11th and Kentucky.
