Thousands without power after storm hits Wichita

? Thousands of Wichita residents are still without power after a brief but strong storm hit the city Wednesday night.

Westar Energy says the storm knocked out power to about 14,000 customers and about 11,000 of those remained without power Thursday morning.

The storm dumped 2.25 inches of rain on the city. The rain was accompanied by winds that reached 70 mph, downing power lines and utility poles across the city. A party-deck at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium also was blown over.

There were no reports of serious injuries.
