Soldier from Fort Riley killed in Afghanistan

A 1st Infantry Division soldier from Fort Riley has died in fighting in Afghanistan.

The fort said in a news release Tuesday that 22-year-old Pfc. Brice Scott died of wounds from small arms fire on July 31 while providing security in the Kandahar province

Scott was assigned to 4th Squadron, 4th Cavalry, 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.

He joined the Army in March 2010 as a cavalry scout and deployed to Afghanistan in February 2011.

Scott, who was born and reared in Eugene, Ore., is survived by his wife and one child.
