Emporia State dean named associate vice president of Mississippi State University satellite campus

? Mississippi State University has chosen Steven F. Brown as the new dean and associate vice president of its satellite campus in Meridian.

His appointment awaits approval of the state College Board. He is set to begin the job Oct. 1.

MSU says in a news release that since 2007, Brown has been dean of liberal arts and sciences at Emporia State University.

Before going to Emporia State, Brown served eight years as chairman of the music department and associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Mississippi.

Brown received his bachelor’s degree in 1974 and master’s degrees in 1977 from Arkansas State University, both in music education. He earned his doctorate from North Texas State University in 1986.
