Lawrence High School graduate Sharyn Lewin is earning accolades for her work in gynecologic oncology.

Lewin, the daughter of Thomas and Phyllis Lewin of Lawrence, is an assistant clinical professor and member of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University Medical Center. She specializes in ovarian, endometrial, uterine, cervical, vulvar and vaginal cancers.

Lewin earned her medical degree at Kansas University in 2001, and has garnered more than a dozen teaching and research awards. Her most recent is “Physician of the Year” at New York Presbyterian Hospital. She received the award during a ceremony in November.
