Congressional staffers head to Fort Riley

? Congressional staff members are spending two days this week at Fort Riley to learn what it takes for the Army to support soldiers and families.

The 16 staff members will be at Fort Riley on Wednesday and Thursday, learning about the northeast Kansas Army post, as well as soldiers, their families and civilian employees at the post.

Fort Riley has hosted the program for nearly 20 years. The post is home to the Army’s 1st Infantry Division, known by its nickname, “The Big Red One.”

During their stay, the staff members will participate in a convoy simulation and make stops across Fort Riley, including at the Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic, the United Services Organization, the Warrior Zone, and the Warrior Transition Battalion, which cares for soldiers wounded in combat.
