Brownback to speak at Benedictine College commencement

? Students graduating from Benedictine College in northeastern Kansas will hear from Gov. Sam Brownback at their commencement exercises next month.

Brownback will be the keynote speaker as 329 students receive their diplomas May 14 at the Catholic liberal arts college in Atchison.

Benedictine says in a news release that Brownback has already spoken on issues of faith and politics at the school several times, including last year’s dedication of the Mother Teresa Center for Nursing and Health Education.

The governor converted to Catholicism in 2002 and is currently a member of Christ the King Parish in Topeka. Brownback has said that meeting Mother Teresa in Washington, D.C., helped him continue along his path of conversion.
