Trial set for Arlington councilor charged in sex crimes case
Arlington ? A former Arlington councilor accused of sex crimes will go on trial June 14.
The suspect appeared Monday in Reno County Court on 14 charges of molesting a 7-year-old and taking pictures. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for May 13.
The suspect pleaded innocent last month to six counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and eight counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
The suspect’s attorney, Mark Schoenhofer of Wichita, said Monday that he hopes the case could be resolved without a trial. But District Attorney Keith Schroeder said he doubted that would happen.
The Hutchinson News reports that the suspect remains in the Reno County jail on $450,000 bond.
