Sedgwick County corrections employee allegedly faked report of stabbing

April 7, 2011

— An employee at the Sedgwick County Department of Corrections adult residential facility is charged with falsely reporting that he had been stabbed.

Sedgwick County officials say the 24-year-old worker reported that he was stabbed early Wednesday while working at the facility.

The Wichita Eagle reports that investigators concluded that he made up the story and booked him into the Sedgwick County Jail on a charge of making a false police report.

Investigators say the man had a self-inflicted stab wound in his abdomen but was not seriously injured.
