Sunflower Broadband changeover advances

A changeover at Sunflower Broadband is one step closer to becoming finalized.

Commissioners agreed Tuesday to transfer a host of cable and telephone franchise agreements to Georgia-based Knology Inc., which has reached a deal to purchase Sunflower from The World Company.

An exact date for Knology to take over the cable, phone and Internet operations of Sunflower have not yet been set, but likely will occur in the next 30 to 60 days, said Patrick Knorr, chief operating officer of The World Company.

The World Company is the parent company of the Journal-World.
