Lawrence police early Monday arrested a 29-year-old Lawrence man on charges of abuse of a child and aggravated battery. He was booked into jail at 1 a.m., and the arrest was made in the 200 block of Pine Cone Drive, according to Douglas County Jail records.

A police spokeswoman on Monday referred all questions to Douglas County District Attorney Charles Branson’s office. Branson said his office was still reviewing the case before filing charges and that the suspect is expected to appear in court this afternoon.
