Blood Center teams with KU for drive

The Community Blood Center has teamed up with Kansas University to have a blood drive next week.

Blood will be collected at different times and locations throughout the week.

The goal of the weeklong drive is to collect 1,025 units.

The Kansas City, Mo.-based center sends about 3,600 units of blood each week to treat patients in more than 70 area hospitals, including Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

To participate in the drive, you must be at least 16 years old, weigh a minimum of 115 pounds and be in good health.

Here’s the schedule:

• Monday through Wednesday — Kansas Union Ballroom and parking lot, 1301 Jayhawk Blvd., 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Note: Donations in parking lot locations will on be on a mobile unit bus.

• Thursday — Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center parking lot, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

• Thursday — McCollum Hall, 1 p.m.-7 p.m.

• Friday — GSP Hall living room, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

• Friday — Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center parking lot, 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

• Friday — Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
