Shoreline Shuffle 5K: The Lawrence Trail Hawks will host the second Shoreline Shuffle 5k Trail Run on Saturday on Clinton Lake’s North Shore Trails. The race begins and ends at Shelter 4, Campground One, in Clinton Lake State Park. The marked course includes difficult rocky, root-bound trails; smooth, flat, easy trails; scenic lake views; and long shady stretches through old-growth forest. The race begins at 8 a.m., with race-day registration and check-in starting at 7 a.m. The race entry form and online registration are both available at www.Lawrencetrailhawks.com. Head for the Cure 5K Looms: The second-annual Lawrence Head for the Cure 5k will be at 8 a.m. Sunday at the YSI fields near the South Lawrence Trafficway. Jayhawk Juniors Volleyball: Kansas University will be hosting youth volleyball clinics this fall. Clinics for girls in grades 7-8 from Oct. 3-Nov. 7. KU Baseball Camps: Kansas University will hold several youth baseball camps this fall. Fall Hitting Academies, for ages 8-18, will be held Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27 (session two) and Nov. 1, 16, 22, 29 (session three). The Jayhawk Fall Games Camp, for grades 9-12, will run Sept. 12, 19, 26 and Oct. 10. The Jayhawk Baseball Youth Fall Games Camp, for ages 10-12, will run Sept. 20, 27, Oct. 4 and 11. The Showcase Weekend, for high school juniors and seniors in a professional scout-evaluation format, will be Oct. 2 or 3. And the Holiday Skills Camp, for ages 8-18, runs Dec. 28-30. LHS Soccer Fundraiser: The Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser breakfast to support the Lawrence High boys soccer team will be from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Oct. 9 at Applebee’s, 2520 Iowa Street. Tickets are $5. All proceeds are used by the team to help pay for uniforms and equipment. Tickets available at the door or in advance by contacting RunnerKaren@sunflower.com.

Jayhawk Golf Club Results: Mike Naegele shot a 68 to win the net portion of the Jayhawk Golf Club on Sunday at Alvamar. Tom Taylor was second with 69, Mike Hertling third with 70 and Chris Petr fourth with 71.

Conrad Roberts won the scratch portion with a 71. He was followed by Chad Roesler (71), Chris Anderson (74) and Bud Stagg (78).

KU Rugby: The Kansas University women’s rugby team defeated Kansas State, 70-0, on Saturday at Westwick Rugby Pitches in Lawrence. KU travels this weekend to Denver to compete in the West Women’s Tournament. Its next home game is Oct. 9.

Phenix Teams Win Titles: The Lawrence Phenix softball teams won championships in the following age groups: 10U Reese at the ASA Fall Classic, 14U Johnson at the ASA Shootout Series, 16U Finucane at the USSSA Fall Fiasco and 18U Reese at the USSSA Fall Fiasco.

Rueschhoff Ace: Lisa Rueschhoff recorded a hole-in-one on Alavamar Country Club No. 11, 128 yards, with a 7-wood. Witnesses were Teresa Treanor, Kathy Coffman and Joni Wilderson.

Kaw Valley Soccer: The U9 Kaw Valley Force Golden Stars were finalists this month at the Mid-West Classic in Overland Park and the Kaw Valley Cup in Lawrence. Players are Jessica Chen, Kiara Jadlow, Abby Stallworth, Lanie Whitehill, Kenzi, Allie Roraubaugh, Aubrey Tanksley, Semra Tracy, Mikyla Williams and Caitlyn Champagne. Coach is Riny de Boer.

The U10 Kaw Valley Force Shining Stars were finalists at the Kaw Valley Cup last weekend in Lawrence. Players are Julia Larkin, Ellie Williams, Mary Alexander, Brittany Hoffman, Laura Willoughby, Emma Yackley, Kaelyn Weiss, Jensen Persinger, Evann Seratte and Christina Lee. Coach is Riny de Boer.

Ottawa 5K: The Appanoose PTO at Appanoose Elementary School (West Franklin USD 287) will be hosting a 5K run on Oct. 2 at the Ottawa University Lodge at Pomona Lake. Registration starts at 7 a.m. The race is 8 a.m. Entry fee is $20, which includes breakfast after the race. All proceeds help purchase new playground equipment for the school.
