Drive-through flu shots to be offered in Oct.

The Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department is offering a drive-through flu shot clinic for the first time this year.

It will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 in Kansas University’s Park and Ride Lot, which is at the northwest corner of Iowa Street and Clinton Parkway.

The drive-through clinic will serve as a public health emergency training exercise for agency staff, the Douglas County Medical Reserve Corps and other volunteers.

Flu vaccine will be provided to the public at no charge for their participation in the exercise.

This year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone 6 months and older receive the flu vaccine.

Participants are encouraged to fill out a flu vaccine consent form before the clinic. The forms are available at the health department’s website, www.ldchealth.org.
