Shoreline Shuffle 5K: The Lawrence Trail Hawks will host the second Shoreline Shuffle 5k Trail Run on Sept. 25 on Clinton Lake’s North Shore Trails. The race begins and ends at Shelter 4, Campground One, in Clinton Lake State Park. The marked course includes difficult rocky, root-bound trails; smooth, flat, easy trails; scenic lake views; and long shady stretches through old-growth forest. The race begins at 8 a.m., with race-day registration and check-in starting at 7 a.m. The race entry form and online registration are both available at www.Lawrencetrailhawks.com. Head for the Cure 5K Looms: The second-annual Lawrence Head for the Cure 5k will be at 8 a.m. September 26th at the YSI fields near the South Lawrence Trafficway. Jayhawk Juniors Volleyball: Kansas University will be hosting youth volleyball clinics this fall. Clinics for girls in grades K-6 will run Sundays from Sept. 12-Oct. 17 and for grades 7-8 from Oct. 3-Nov. 7. A clinic for boys in grades 3-12 will run Thursdays from Sept. 16-Oct. 21. KU Baseball Camps: Kansas University will hold several youth baseball camps this fall. Fall Hitting Academies, for ages 8-18, will be held Sept. 8, 15, 22, 29 (session one); Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27 (session two) and Nov. 1, 16, 22, 29 (session three). The Jayhawk Fall Games Camp, for grades 9-12, will run Sept. 12, 19, 26 and Oct. 10. The Jayhawk Baseball Youth Fall Games Camp, for ages 10-12, will run Sept. 20, 27, Oct. 4 and 11. The Showcase Weekend, for high school juniors and seniors in a professional scout-evaluation format, will Oct. 2 or 3. And the Holiday Skills Camp, for ages 8-18, runs Dec. 28-30. Tennis tourney: The LTA/Douglas County Closed Tournament will be held at the Lawrence Tennis Center Sept. 25 and 26. Entries open Sept. 12 and close Sept. 21. The women’s singles and doubles NTRP 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0, the men’s singles and doubles NTRP 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 and the mixed doubles combined NTRP 7.0 and 8.0 event is free to Lawrence Tennis Association members. Half Marathon Nears: The GaDuGi SafeCenter’s Rev It Up Half Marathon will be Oct. 2 at Broken Arrow Park. Proceeds from the 8 a.m. run benefit the SafeCenter, which works to end sexual violence. For information, visit www.gadugisafecenter.org.

3 on 3 League: Lawrence High basketball coach Nick Wood and Free State coach Bryan Duncan will be offering a a three-on-three basketball league this fall for girls enrolled in grades 5-8. The league will be split up into a fifth-/sixth-grade division and a seventh-/eighth-grade division. Each team will play four 10-minute games a night. The league will take place at Free State High on Sunday nights from 7-8:15. The dates of the league are Sept. 19, 26 and 3, 10, 17. Players may sign up as a team or as individuals. Jayhawk Golf Club Results: Chris Petr shot 71 to win the net portion of the Jayhawk Golf Club on Sunday at Alvamar, edging Chris Anderson (second, 72) and Curt Anderson (third, 72). William Gantz (75) won scratch and was followed by Conrad Roberts (75) and Van Reichert (81).

Maple Leaf Run Slated: The Maple Leaf Run will be held Oct. 16 at the Baldwin City Golf Course during the Maple Leaf Festival. There will be a 5K run, a one-mile walk and a one-mile kids fun run. Cost is $20 and includes a shirt. For info, contact Kit Harris, kharris@usd348.com or 785-221-8025.

Family Promise Golf Tournament and Auction: Spots remain for the charity golf tournament that takes place Monday at Alvamar Country Club and raises funds used to provide temporary shelter, meals, assistance and to seek permanent solutions to homelessness and unemployment for those in need. Lunch and registration at noon. The auction is from 5-8 p.m. Sunday. Admission to the Auction Party at Alvamar Country Club is $25 per person.
