Douglas County Community Foundation seeking to fund environmental projects

The Douglas County Community Foundation is looking for projects to fund through the Elizabeth Schultz Environmental Fund. The application deadline is Oct. 1.

The foundation is seeking projects that are committed to preserving and understanding nature and to conserving resources. Projects can take scientific, cultural, educational, aesthetic or economic approaches to accomplishing those goals.

An information session will take place on the grant process at 4 p.m. Sept. 16 in the gallery room of the Lawrence Public Library.

In 2005, Elizabeth Schultz created the fund. Since then 23 grants totaling close to $95,000 have been distributed through the fund.
