Praiseworthy

To the editor:

Congratulations to those Free State High School students who presented a petition to school officials backing the belief that “ALL seniors should have an equal opportunity to be on the Homecoming Court.”

How appalling that students with disabilities have been denied an opportunity to have their friends support them with a nomination to the Homecoming Court. Even more appalling is the apparent fact that this has been going on since the school opened and nobody complained, or apparently even noticed the blatant discrimination.

Thank you, Audrey Hughes, Bailey Knowlton, Connor Caldwell and Aly Frydman. It is wonderful to know that there are young people like you who see a problem, find a solution, and get out there and make it work. Our future is in good hands with students like you to take care of it!
