The NWS reports that 2-4 inches of rain has fallen across the area. A flash flood watch remains in effect until midnight Wednesday.

Multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms saturated the ground Wednesday morning, and more storms are possible throughout the evening. This heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in the areas covered by the flash flood watch.

The watch affects the cities of Topeka, Lawrence, Emporia and Ottawa and includes the following counties:

  • Wabaunsee
  • Shawnee
  • Douglas
  • Lyon
  • Osage
  • Franklin
  • Coffey
  • Anderson

A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible but not imminent.
