Jets put DT Jenkins on IR with torn ACL

Florham Park, N.J — Kris Jenkins’ comeback lasted less than one quarter.

The New York Jets’ defensive tackle will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his surgically repaired left knee in the team’s opener against Baltimore on Monday night.

The extent of the injury was determined Tuesday following an MRI exam.

NFL talking with Jets about reporter flap

Florham Park, N.J. — The NFL is still trying to determine exactly what went on at New York Jets camp involving a TV Azteca reporter.

Ines Sainz, who works for the Mexican network, said she was uncomfortable Saturday in the Jets’ locker room, where a few players let loose with some catcalls as she waited with two male co-workers to interview quarterback Mark Sanchez, who is of Mexican descent.

Miami’s Odrick out

Miami — A person familiar with the injury to Jared Odrick says the Miami Dolphins’ rookie defensive end is expected to miss one or two games with a slight hairline fracture in his right leg. Odrick, the Dolphins’ top draft pick, was hurt Sunday in their season-opening victory at Buffalo.

Tampa Bay activates suspended CB Talib

Tampa, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have activated cornerback Aqib Talib, who sat out the team’s season-opening victory over Cleveland while serving a one-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

Pats send Maroney to Broncos in trade

Foxborough, Mass. — The Denver Broncos obtained running back Laurence Maroney from the New England Patriots on Tuesday, adding another nicked-up player to a rushing attack burdened by injuries.

Each team received an undisclosed 2011 draft pick in the deal that reunites the Patriots’ first-round choice in 2006 with Josh McDaniels, New England’s offensive coordinator before he became Denver’s head coach last season.

Lake Forest, Ill. — Chicago linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer will miss the rest of the season after the Bears put him on injured reserve because of a concussion he sustained in the preseason.
