KDOT enlists guest bloggers to promote traffic safety

? Kansas transportation officials are posting online entries from famous and not-so-famous guest bloggers in a campaign to encourage traffic safety.

The entries appear on the Kansas Department of Transportation’s “Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day” blog. The first guest blogger was Gov. Mark Parkinson. His entry was posted Monday on KDOT’s Kansas Transportation Online Community link.

This is the second year for Kansas’ “Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day,” which KDOT is marking on Oct. 10. The goal is to educate Kansas on traveling carefully, whether by motor vehicle, bicycle, motorcycle or on foot.

Other guest bloggers in the campaign include Transportation Secretary Deb Miller, Crawford County Sheriff Sandy Horton and Shirley McDonald, mother of a KDOT worker killed on the job in 2005.
