Jacob Meggison, Berryton, was awarded a doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Illinois at Chicago at the May commencement.

The Phoenix Rainbow Girls will host a fundraiser spaghetti feed from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Lawrence Masonic Center, 1301 E. 25th St. Cost is $3 for children under 10 and $5 for adults. Dinner includes spaghetti, garlic bread and dessert.

Brett G. Johnson, son of Robert G. Johnson and grandson of Vivian Johnson of Lawrence, has accepted a position in California as deputy fire chief of administration logistics training. Johnson currently resides in Japan with his wife, Dina, and two daughters, Janise and Jaime.
