KU men’s golf sixth at Turning Stone

? Kansas University’s men’s golf team finished in sixth place on Monday at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate.

The Jayhawks were at 54-over-par (308-302-308, 918 total) for the tournament.

Sophomore Chris Gilbert finished at 10-over par, good for 15th place individually and the top KU finish.

Freshman David Catt and junior Doug Quinones each fired a 74 on the final day.

“It was very disappointing,” KU coach Kit Grove said. “We had a few teams that beat us that we felt like we should have beaten.”

Purdue won the tournament with a total score of 897, three strokes better than second-place Missouri.

Jakob Ziegler of Oakland led all individuals, shooting a 1-under-par for the tournament.

The KU golf team will return to action next week at the Fairway Club Invitational in Nebraska City, Neb.
