FHSU collecting camping gear to lend

? Students at Fort Hays State University have been collecting camping equipment in order to set up a site where people can borrow camping gear.

The students hope to create the Hays Area Camping Library.

Jason Nelson told The Hays Daily News that people would be able to put down a refundable deposit and take the gear when they needed it. The program is targeted toward families of Boy Scouts who can’t afford or don’t want to buy all the necessary camping equipment.

Items the group is looking for include sleeping bags, tents, camp stoves, and backpacks. The group also is collecting Boy Scout uniforms no longer in use.
