2 Pomona men taken to hospital after accident near Ottawa

Two Pomona men were injured Saturday morning in a two-vehicle accident about six miles west of Ottawa on Kansas Highway 68.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, William Eston was driving east about 8:30 a.m. on K-68 when a second vehicle driven by John DePriest failed to yield. The report does not say what direction DePriest was driving.

DePriest was flown by air ambulance and Eston was taken by ground ambulance to Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

The two passengers traveling with DePriest were not injured in the accident. Highway patrol reports said it is unknown if either driver was wearing a seatbelt.

Bernadette Sims, nursing supervisor at Overland Park Regional, said DePriest was treated and released yesterday. Sims did not have any information regarding Eston.
